The overall purpose of the 2016 Socioeconomic Profile was to collect and analyze socioeconomic data to identify the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo’s strengths and needs. The data in the report (e.g., education levels, employment, household size, income, etc.) provided a foundation for the tribe’s policies and decision-making and its findings have often been used when pursuing grant opportunities. Furthermore, the 2016 Socioeconomic Profile has been instrumental in the tribal government understanding the Pueblo’s problems and issues. Helix Solutions’ provided the following services: survey instrument design; quantitative and qualitative data analysis; report writing; graphic design of the final report; and supervision of the printing of the report. The research methodology and findings were presented at the 2018 Annual Tribal Self-Governance Consultation Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Former Governor Carlos Hisa was invited to discuss the profile before the Committee on Indian Affairs, United States Senate on April 18, 2018.
